General Hours

School Hours: 7:40am – 3:10pm (Grades Pre-K to 5) as of 8/15/21

Doors open at 7:10 am. Please do NOT drop your student off prior to that time as there will be no supervision. Assembly starts in the cafeteria at 7:30 am. The school day begins at 7:45 am so students need to be in their classrooms at that time or they will be counted as Tardy. The school day ends at 3:10 pm for Pre-K to 5th Grades.

Office Hours: 7:10am – 4:00pm

7:10 am – Drop off begins (students supervised in the Cafeteria or designated locations in great hall)

7:40 am – Tardy Bell, School Day Begins

3:10 pm – Dismissal bell. Students are brought to various pick-up points around campus. Check with your teacher on how your child is getting home or where you can find them for pick-up.

3:20 pm – Students who are not picked up by 3:20 pm may be picked up at the office.

4:00 pm – Office closes

For the safety of your children, please do not leave them unattended on the school campus before the doors open at 7:10am.

Austin Independent School District maintains the school calendar for all the campuses. Be sure to check it online as it sometimes changes.

Inclement Weather

On those rare winter days when the forecast calls for ice or snow, AISD may delay the opening of school or close school. Watch the local weather forecast and watch for notification from AISD and Summitt Elementary directly. Bad weather makeup days are built into the school’s calendar.

Parents with questions about transportation, especially when operating on a weather delay, can call AISD’s transportation department between 7:45 am and 4:45 pm at 512-414-0238 to inquire about when busses will resume service.
